I no longer take on custom orders.
I thrive most in my creativity when there’s no goal in mind or time pressure.
Creating art only whilst I’m in the flow ensures each piece is made with intention, care and to the highest standard.
-
I release batches of around 100 sets just a few times per year, the colourway’s vary each time - reflecting my explorations and inspiration at the time.
Once I have a date set for the next stock release - I email all my subscribers a few days in advance.
Stock is limited and often sells quickly so its best to get early access via my newsletter.

A good beginner size is the Regular with a veil length no longer than 52 inches.
Please note that although all veils are steam ironed before shipping, they will likely arrive slightly creased due to transit, for best results - I recommend going over them again with a steam iron once they arrive using a protective heat mat (available in the shop under the accessories tab)
Alternatively let them hang to release some of the creases naturally - this is less effective than steam ironing but a good way to keep them from creasing further

Length
The length of fan is measured by the entire fan including the part on the staves.
Please note that creased fans will appear shorter.
When a special trim is applied it will cut into the length you have chosen.
52 inch and above are harder to manage as a beginner but effortlessly beautiful
38 inch and shorter have the benefit of being usable even in windy conditions
as well as for more ‘techy’ tricks
Size
Various sizes are available for fans which differentiate in the length of the staves as well as the width of the veil. Here are the specs for each;
Regular Size - 31cm staves / 35 inch wide veil
Large Size - 36cm staves / 45 inch wide veil
Super Size - 39 cm staves / 45 inch wide veil
Atlas Size - 50cm staves / 55 inch wide veil
Various trims can be added to make your silk fans stand out - view the options here
Add this separately to your cart, the listing can be found in the ‘add ons’ tab
Trims can be left raw or hemmed - please note that unhemmed trims makes them prone to fraying however some prefer no hems as it does weigh down the veil ever so slightly and they float better without
Trims are cut into the length of fan you choose, therefore you may want to consider getting a longer length for this add on (38inches and above is recommended)

Half Moon Fans
These unique style fans have a few different qualities to standard fans including a semi circle shaped veil (rather than a rectangle) this makes them super aerodynamic and comfortable when spinning in stave grip, as well creating a unique visual since the gradient is radial and not straight, the veil is also wider than its length which creates a varied look. The shorter length veil makes them more wind resistant and also a great option for techy tricks.
Veil Wings
Silk Veil wings come in two sizes Medium & Large.
You will need a set of poles to use the wings effectively, these can be purchased here.
The poles are telescopic which makes them convenient for travelling with, when you receive your order I highly recommend practicing with the poles alone to work out the best length to extend them too, it is very easy to tear the silk on the poles when they are too long and accidently scrape the ground or ceiling, for this reason I would make sure your poles do not touch the floor when your arm is fully extended and pointing down. Wings have a reinforcement layer in the end of the tube to make them more durable.
Eco-Friendly Packaging
We strive to be as kind to the earth as possible by using HEROPACKs reusable & compostable packaging which is 100% plastic free
These HEROPACK satchels are made from cornstarch and are designed to use twice, simply cut along the line on the flap and re-use it with the second adhesive (glue) strip.
If its no longer useable, you can cut it up and pop it into your compost/green bin.
Once composted properly, the HEROPACKs will start to break down and turn into amazing fertiliser for the garden.

Caring for your silks
Habotai Silk is a very fine fabric that requires some extra handling care to ensure its longevity. To make your silk fans last it is recommended to store them somewhere safe or inside a soft bag. (Available to purchase here)
I personally store mine unraveled and hanging to keep the silks from creasing. Eg. close staved inside a wardrobe with silk hanging down from the top shelf.
When transporting silks I would recommend a soft fan bag (available to purchase in the shop) or if you want to keep them crease free I sometimes carry them inside a suit protector using a hanger with clips.
Pay attention to your surroundings when dancing with them to avoid getting them hooked on a small splinter and tearing. If you do accidentally make a rip in your silks they may be repairable using a fabric tacky glue. You can also use this glue if the silks have peeled away from the staves after prolonged use.
Avoid getting your silks too wet as the dye might bleed from one colour to another. You can hand wash your silks by dipping each colour separately into cold water and a mild silk detergent. Use fresh water for each colour. Make sure the colours don’t touch each other when drying.
In high humidty climates its important to store your fans in a moisture proof case to avoid mould growing on the bamboo part of the fans. PROPShOP is currently in the process of creating a case for this purpose.
You can steam iron your silks if they are creased - A heat protective ironing cloth is highly recommended. (Available to purchase here)
Be aware that dyed silks will gradually fade when exposed to sunlight.
Depending on usage and how well you care for your silks you can expect them to last between 3-5 years.
